Hi @ongsk88,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP Envy 360 laptop is not powering on when plugged in without the battery, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to identify and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check the Power Adapter and Power Outlet
Verify the Power Adapter:
- Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to the power outlet and the laptop.
- Check the LED light on the power adapter (if available). If the light is not on, try using a different power outlet or a different power adapter if you have one available.
Inspect the Power Cord:
- Make sure the power cord is securely connected to the power adapter and there are no visible damages or fraying.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
Disconnect All External Devices:
- Remove any external devices connected to the laptop (e.g., USB drives, external hard drives, etc.).
Disconnect the Power Adapter:
- Unplug the power adapter from the laptop and the power outlet.
Hold the Power Button:
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual electrical charge in the laptop.
Reconnect the Power Adapter:
- Plug the power adapter back into the laptop and the power outlet.
Attempt to Power On:
- Press the power button to see if the laptop powers on.
3. Check the Power Port and Connections
Inspect the Power Port:
- Check the power port on the laptop for any visible debris or damage. Clean it gently if necessary.
Verify Connections:
- Ensure that the power adapter is securely connected to the laptop.
4. Test with a Different Power Adapter (if available)
- If you have access to another compatible HP power adapter, try using it to see if the issue is with the original adapter.
5. Check for Indicator Lights and Sounds
- Observe any indicator lights on the laptop (such as power, charging, or keyboard backlight) and listen for any sounds (such as the fan starting up) when you press the power button. This can help determine if the laptop is receiving power.
6. Inspect the Battery and Power Components
- If possible, remove the battery and inspect the battery and its connectors for any visible damage or corrosion.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware problem that requires service.
Contact HP Phone Support for further diagnosis and potential repair.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
