Hello,
About 2 days ago, I bought a used HP Pavilion 17-g011no laptop and was met with a few issues. When I first started up the PC, I saw the Windows 10 version was very old (from 2015) and decided to update it from a Windows 10 memory stick I had. After the installation of a new clean Windows 10 version, it wouldn't boot. After several hours of troubleshooting and headaches, I managed to make it work by updating the BIOS. The PC booted and everything seemed to work.
I was starting Windows Update, and there were many drivers and updates that were installing and it all went smooth and nice until I was prompted by Windows Update to restart the PC (which is obviously normal). The PC restarted, however during the update, a BSOD appeared with the error code: KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. The PC rebooted and I did manage to finish the update, however, new BSODs keep appearing and they all have different error codes (only seen the same error code a few times) such as BAD_POOL_CALLER, KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION, and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (with Wdf01000.sys as the failing service) and several more I didn't catch.
After all these BSODs I tried updating drivers, running diagnostics tools, physically checking hardware for any physical damage, reinstalling Windows 10 entirely but none of them fixed anything. My conclusion to this is related to hardware, more specifically the motherboard or the CPU as I've tested the RAM on other laptops and switching disks. I just wanna hear with your people what I should do with this issue as I don't wanna buy a new motherboard without knowing the issue exactly.
Thank you in advance!
Edit:
I want to add that the graphics driver is always causing a BSOD. Installing the AMD Catalyst™ 15.7.1 Driver gives me a BSOD with error code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

Do you know what specific version of Win10 was on the USB stick? Since the PC is doing updates, my guess is that it is not a current version, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
Only Win10 v20H2 is available from Microsoft, but that does not seem to have the issues that v20.04 (or 20H1, if you want to call it that) had. So, I would be OK with using the current version -- which you can get from here: Windows 10 download
After you have reinstalled Win10, then go to this page and download and install the HP drivers: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/7771368/model/868...
You could try using the Detect my Drivers button to see if that works for you.
Do NOT, repeat NOT, download and install any video drivers from AMD. Those will likely not work with your laptop.
