Hi @Queenarc,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP laptop does not turn on and exhibits the behavior you've described (blinking lights, then turning off), it can indicate several potential issues. Here are some steps you can follow to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem.

Perform a Hard Reset

A hard reset can clear any residual electrical charge and may resolve the issue.

  • Disconnect all peripheral devices (USB drives, printers, etc.)
  • Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if it's removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and charger, then try to turn on the laptop.

Check the Power Adapter and Battery

Ensure that the charger and battery are working properly.

  • Check if the charger light (usually near the charging port) stays on when plugged in.
  • If you have access to another compatible charger, try using it to rule out a faulty charger.
  • If the battery is removable, try turning on the laptop with the charger connected but without the battery. If it turns on, the battery might be the issue.

Reseat the RAM

Sometimes, reseating the RAM can resolve boot issues.

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect all power sources.
  • Open the laptop's back cover (refer to your laptop’s manual for instructions).
  • Carefully remove the RAM sticks and reinsert them.
  • Close the back cover and try to power on the laptop.

BIOS/UEFI Reset

If the laptop starts but doesn’t display anything, try resetting the BIOS/UEFI.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press and hold the Windows key + B, then press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds.
  • Release the power button but keep holding the Windows + B keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check for Error Codes

HP laptops may provide error codes through the blinking lights.

  • Count the number of blinks and refer to the HP support site for diagnostic information based on the blink pattern.

Performing these steps systematically can help identify whether the problem is with the power supply, the internal hardware, or the system settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
