HP Laptop PC 15t-dw300 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a 2 year old laptop that is going to a frown face blue screen with the diagnostic stop code: Driver PNP Watchdog. It could have been caused by an auto update but not sure. Some details on laptop below.

OS: Win11 22H2 - (it was running the latest)

Product Name: HP laptop 15-dw3xxx
Product number: 1a3y8av
System board ID: 881E
BIOS version: F.58 (updated to latest)

I have run hardware diagnostics including extensive diags on the storage and see no issues.

I have tried the following:

Registry repair.

Windows repair using boot from USB.

Using an HP repair USB. This just gives the same blue screen message when I boot to it.

Windows 11 media install USB. This boots up and gets to the point where it sees no drives. At this point I have tried to load  RST drivers from both Intel and HP and  eventually I get the same blue screen error message as opposed to seeing any drives.

Since I see the error when I try to load the RST drivers I am assuming this is an issue the the RST/Optane memory. I have read that you cannot turn this off in the BIOS on HP.

I do not have a running Windows environment so everything has to be done from a boot to a USB. I am fine with losing data on this laptop. I just need a way to re-install an OS on it.

Thanks,

JB

I was finally able to get the Win11 install media to see the drives by using an older Win10 RST driver - 18.0.1.11. Now the question is can I fix the current install using this old driver? How would I replace the current driver when it does not boot? Just a manual file copy and replace?

Thanks!
