HP 19" laptop, relatively new, will not boot (retrieving model infor. currently problematic). Erorr message on blacked out screen: "Boot Device Not Found.  Please install operating system on your hard drive. Hard Disk (3F0)". Etc.

Would appreciate advice on restoration of boot capacity and normal operation. Thank you in advance.         Andrew V.

Hi @AndiyV,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about  the no boot issue, don’t worry let me help you with this.

Could you please share the exact model number of your HP laptop? You can usually find it printed on a label underneath the device or inside the battery compartment.

In the meantime, here are a few initial steps you can try:

  • Check BIOS settings:
    • Restart the laptop and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
    • Confirm whether the hard drive is detected under “Storage” or “System Information.”
  • Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • While starting up, press Esc → then F2 to access diagnostics.
    • Run a quick test on the hard drive to check for hardware issues.
  • Check boot order:
  • In BIOS, make sure the hard drive is listed as the first boot device.

If the hard drive isn’t detected at all, it could indicate a connection issue or a drive failure. If it is detected but the OS won’t load, we may need to look at recovery options, such as using HP Recovery Media or Windows installation media (But you need to ensure all your data is backed up before the reinstallation process)

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
