I reset my laptop last night and half way through resetting a screen came up and said reset failed.

I then tried resetting the laptop again and fell asleep.

When i woke up this morning i turned on my laptop and the HP logo appeared, it then goes black, waits a few minutes and then the HP logo appears again. It does this on a continuous loop.

I looked this issue up online and it said to hold down 'esc' - f2 - system test - quick test.

I did this and it says i have no issues.

I then tried pressing F11 and trying to switch it on that way but it doesn't work.

Please help!!!

See if you still have cloud support

HP is removing cloud recovery for many systems over 5 years old. The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires. You may want to go here and get a copy of your cloud recovery before it is too late.

Instructions here
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_4511095-4511141-16

Select the product you need help with and scroll down to support options.
Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary.

If you have a business / commercial model laptop then then the cloud recovery is handled differently.  Let me know what model or project ID.

Note that the above will erase the disk drive.  If you specified that you wanted your personal files saved then you need to repair the reset or recover from it else you will lose your personal files that are not backed up on OneDrive.

To do a startup repair you need boot into windows recovery mode. First read this article about safe mode.
Skip down to 'Enter safe mode from outside windows'. If f11 does not get you into system recovery then try turning the power on and off three or more times in a row.
When you get to advanced options select 'Startup Repair'

If the startup repair fails then try the restore point.

This video describes how to use a restore point.
Let me know if you need more help or if startup repair fails.

Let me know what you find out.

Thank you for your reply.

1. HP cloud recovery doesn't work for me. Think its too late.

2. Tried the system restore option and i cant access it as it says i need a password even though i've never used a password so have no idea what it is.

3. Start up repair - again needs a password

Is this a bios password or a windows password requirement?
