I hear ya - I'll take it to my computer guy because I'm going to upgrade to Windows 10 (augh) and maybe he'll work on it for me for a few bucks. I also hate to waste things that could be useable to someone out there.
thanks again...

I have a nice little hp mini 1030nr with 1gb running xp. I'm willing to invest a bit. Can anyone tell me, for addressability, is 2g the most it can use, or can it handle more? 4g? 8g?
I can change the chip myself, no problem, static pad and all. Just need to know the upper limits of what it can use. I have win 7, and can use Linux, so those options are open, also.
Thanks, LH
