First just want to say after review some posts, HP seems to have excellent customer service regardless if the issue gets fixed or is eve&n able to be fixed, so thanks ahead of time.
OK so I've a 15dy200 2d117av laptop, it's my switch and my middle man for my network so it's not life or death or my main machine but still very useless I hope we can get he back up, I may know the issue just cannot remedy it given the situation.
Anyway, here's the scoop.
1. Probably needs an Input Output update but I only have record of 1 out 2 BIOS passwords so I csn only start it but cannot access the main configuration options to disable or reset fail Saif shutdown or update firmware directly.
2. This started after swapping hard drives with another machine I have due to secure boot locking me out of a fresh USB boot image and my FS got corruption by an unwelcome gues to my server. Figured I'd just put a good drive from a different laptop like I've done before.
3. I assume fail safe or firmware, unable to remedy either one as far as I know.
4. I put fresh thermal paste after this started to be safe, passes bios system test.
5. New harddrive nvmE pciE 1T Seagate Barracuda no luck on the drive part, made no difference.
Swapped RAM from another machine that was still new in the box (coukd cause an issue with there being no way to reset CMOS via board battery or jumper pin.
6. Able to access system info and diagnostics, all looks normal on info and passed all tests included 3 back to back 30 min stress tests to check my work on the thermal paste. Everything seems fine...
7. Operating System was a duel booth single manager CentOS Server/Arch Linux both with dynamic Kernel mods dkm's but inky used them for delegating encrypted volumes well after the boot phase.
**Smptoms**
1. Initially, failed to boot properly after nvme swap following FS type LUKS LVM paired with a pretty normal EXT.2&4 GPT arrangement with a proper swap space unwelcomed invasion cause general corruption and prompted a swap or replacement.
2. To be safe, replaced thermal paste, memory mod, hard disk, wish I coukd replace a cmos battery but that's just not a thing.
3. Post replacement, same results
Still passess all tests, still acting like it's stuck in failsafe.
*My Questions*
1.Is there a way to access my configuration on Bios with admin password? I image not but why not ask. I remember my start up password, thought I knew both but I guess not. Objective is to reset failsafe shutdown that's all I need from that menu
2.is there. Way to update bios drivers without administration password for BIOS?
3 could the HDD or RAM cause any addition system issues?
Apologies for the super long post just getting it all out there now to cutting down on speculation.
Appreciate any feedback especially targeted towards this machines rebirth. Otherwise I'll part it out, would hate to do that all because if a driver and fail setting (if that is in fact the issue, still unknown.) I'm not really a hardware guy, I know the basics but I'm stumped here.
Thank you!

Well I clearly spoke too soon when saying there was good customer service and a strong community, not a single word. I was feeling done with HP product any way. I mean if my i3 is twice as fast as my i7 same ram same year that's a problem. Done with HP, later
