Hi @crowlake434,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion can enter Troubleshoot/Diagnostics mode but F11 System Recovery isn’t working on Windows 10. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Check If Recovery Partition Exists

Press Windows + R, type diskmgmt.msc, and press Enter.

Look for a partition labeled HP_RECOVERY or similar.

If the recovery partition is missing or corrupted, F11 will not work.

b. Try Recovery via Command Prompt

Boot into Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Command Prompt.

Type:

reagentc /info

This will show if the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is enabled.

If it says Disabled, type:

reagentc /enable

Restart and try F11 again.

c. Use Windows 10 Installation Media for Recovery

If F11 still doesn’t work, you can recover using a USB installation media:

Download Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft on another PC.

Create a bootable USB drive.

Boot your Pavilion from USB → choose Repair your computer → Troubleshoot → Reset this PC / Advanced Options.

d. Backup Important Files First

If you plan a full system reset, ensure you back up your important data to an external drive.

e. Check BIOS Settings (Optional)

Restart the laptop and press ESC → F10 to enter BIOS.

Ensure Legacy/UEFI Boot and Secure Boot settings are compatible with WinRE.

Some older systems may block recovery if settings were changed.

I hope this helps.
