Hello
I think my Hp Notebook is coming to the end of its useful life. It has been tipping the balance for years on suitability for Windows 10 with regular free space issues on the very small 32GB drive.
I have tried all the usual ways to clear space from reinstalling W10 to deleting Apps and not adding additional software but now the best I can get is 9GB free space.
I know there is a major update coming so my last hope is that someone here may have some new advice to offer that will gain me more free space, enough for the update, on this very small and really unsuitable notebook drive for windows 10?. Please comment if you wish.
Thanks
G

Reinstalling Windows is a BAD idea because shortly thereafter, Windows Update will start downloading updates and soon fill up the disk space again.
Here are some things you can do to recover some of the disk space:

Also, the community Win10 Forums has the following suggestions:

In addition, I have found the utility Cleanmgr+ to have LOTS of options for removing Windows junk, including log files. I use it practically every day. You can get it from here:

Also, there is a freeware app known as Wise Disk Cleaner. I use it every day to get rid of junk files: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-disk-cleaner.html

Thanks WA for the information. It looks comprehensive and may give me the options I need to increase the free space on my C drive. I will work my way through over the coming days and let you know the outcome.

Hello WA
I have looked through your suggestions. I am not that keep on the file compression option but liked the Wise Disc Cleaner plus I also deleted some W10 Optional Feature and my small Hp Stream now has 10.1GB free space so I will settle on that for now.
Just one other thing my computer anti virus flagged up Wise Disc Cleaner as a harmful site but research suggested that was likely be a false positive. Do you have anything to add on that it certainly is an effective junk cleaner as you suggest?
Many Thanks again.
