I have an Envy laptop I bought in Europe a few years ago that needs a battery and hard drive replacement. I am currently living in Japan and have contacted HP support here. They said they can't repair the laptop because it was not made in Japan. Is that true?

If your notebook is still under warranty and the exact same model notebook you have is not sold in Japan, then the notebook is not covered under the global warranty.

It would probably be less expensive for you to take the PC to a local repair shop and have the PC repaired rather than to pay HP to make the repairs.

Hi Paul, Many thanks for your reply. The fact is HP Japan flat out refused to repair it, but not on the ground that it was out of warranty. They said they won't repair any laptops not made in Japan... Anyway, thanks again!
