HP Notebook - 15-af152nr (Touch) (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all

So I decided to completely factory reset my laptop to wipe everything and start afresh. So I did it through the HP system recovery menu (F11) and it started fine but after 1 minute it said it failed and next thing I know I get a message saying "Boot device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard drive. Hard disk (3F0)". The laptop was working perfectly fine before hand and I did the system diagnostics when it happened and it passed the memory and extensive hard drive checks.

So what now? I sure hope HP doesn't expect me to have to pay for a new copy of windows 10 because of their deficient recovery software. Thank you for your advice and hopefully some useful assistance from HP.

Since your machine previously ran Windows 10, you can do a clean install W10 for free by using the media creation tool at the link below.

            https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The tool will allow you to make a bootable installation media (USB/DVD) and you can use installation media to install.

During the installation process if you are asked to enter a product key, check the 'Skip' box and W10 will install and then automatically activate once you are connected to the internet using the key embedded in BIOS of your machine.

Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page.

Regards.
