My hp laptop is not recognising the charger when I try  to charge.  It is working properly with battery but failing to charge. I have tried to remove the battery and connect direct to AC power and laptop is not turning  on.

I have also tried to check my charging adapter with other hp laptop and it is working properly but when I try to connect to my laptop it is not detecting the charger.

I have also try to change charging adapter and charging port but still not charging. What can be the problem?

Hi @DT871,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

May I have the exact product name and number? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Meanwhile, Remove the battery and connect the AC adapter to a power source and see if it is powering on.

Now first, connect both battery and AC adapter to power, load to Windows:
Uninstall Microsoft ACPI compliance battery and AC adapter driver from Device Manager completely

Shut down laptop

Do a hard reset or follow the steps below.

POWER DRAIN:

Please disconnect all the devices and cables connected to your computer including the power cable and then press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds and connect the power cable back again and try to power on the computer.

CBR:

Press windows key and then followed by the key "B" this time and then the power button for around 3-4 seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold windows+B for 3-4 seconds more.

Insert battery alone, disconnecting AC adapter

Then reload BIOS to default (HP Notebooks PCs - Restoring Defaults in BIOS) if the link does not open you may try this. (Usually by tapping F9 key when you are in BIOS setup. Then F10 to Save & Exit)

Save and exit. Continue to load Windows completely.

Shut down again. Plug-in AC adapter.

Now restart again.

See if Windows is detecting.

If not it could be hardware.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

@Elohl_NR

It is HP Laptop

Model 15-ra003nia

ProdID 3FY56EA#BH5

SN#CND75099XP

Thank you for the support but after following and performing all the tasks you directed me to do, the problem still stands but now with different case.

At first it was not detecting charger when I plugin in the AC but after performing all the tasks, the laptop cannot power on using AC power only. What is happenning is when I remove the battery and power on using AC power the laptop is still not detecting AC power.

But when I insert the battery in the laptop, it is able to power on and it is showing charging LED as if AC charger is connected. I tried to connect AC charger after inserting the battery it starts charging for about five seconds then it goes off while charging light changes light white as if the battery is fully changed.
