Hello @DXM09
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
- Check and read this official HP article about instructions how to disable the touchpad >> https://support.hp.com/ie-en/document/c03882926
Follow the steps .
If the article does not help, ensure the driver version is correct.
There is only one correct version for your PC model and it is based on the Windows edition you use.
- Go to Start, type winver and open the application. Check the Windows version and build
- Go to Start, type Device Manager and open the application
- Find it and locate "Mice and other pointing devices". Expand the section
- Right click on the device (probably Synaptics) and choose to uninstall it
- Get the latest (correct) driver based on your Windows version - found in winver information

Hello IT_WinSec
Thank you for the help. i tried to reninstall the drivers as you instructed but to no luck. When i click on the additional mouse options i have the Mouse properties screen come up but my tabs stop at hardware. I do not have the touch style or touchpad tabs. i even tried installing differant drivers from your links as well as staight from HP's page with no luck. I didnt get the recovery disk with this purchase and not sure i want to invest another $40 into this problem. i kept getting a pop up after windows install that synaptics control paneldid not install but i have not see anything else effected. could this be an issuse?
once again thank you for the help.

Thank you for the reply.
Could you please take pictures showing in Control Panel the Mouse control Panel ?
Attach them back here in your next reply
Download and run the free Speccy > https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/builds
Downlod and run the Portable version (free edition)
When it is ready, click on File > Save a snapshot
A file with .speccy extension will be generated. Please, upload it somewhere (e.g. in your Google Drive, Dropbox, ICloud or OneDrive storage) and give me URL to download/see
Could you go to Device Manager and give the device Hardware ID of the toucpad -> here is how to find it >> https://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID

Can you take a screenshot of the "Hardware" tab ?
How about the other information - Device ID and Speccy log ?
