My daughter's laptop had the "Boot Device Not Found 3F0 Error"  I tried everything that I seen on the internet and determined I needed to replace hard drive.  I have done so and still get the error because the new hard drive doesn't have an operating system.  How do I get that?  I did not get any disks with the computer nor do I have any product codes.

Hi Dsabado

Have you ever tried to perform a test on UEFI for your hard drive? if not I leave you here a document where you can test the hard disk, if it failed you need contact tech support team to report it and send to service center, here I leave you a document where you can place a test for hard disk

https://support.hp.com/lt-en/document/c03467259

If test has been passed, you need to reinstall the OS on your computer, I leave you here document to create your Cloud Recovery Media tool

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205

Obviously you need a second computer and also a pen drive 16GB to create your cloud recovery media tool

Hope solve your issue, if yes let me know it

I work on behalf of HP, regards.

Alex921 - Thank you so much for replying.  Not sure that I can perform the test you suggest.  Here is exactly where I am, hopefully makes sense:

Laptop had the 3FO error and after trying all the suggestions I could locate and didn't work I replaced the hard drive.  Once I replaced the hard drive I immediately started the computer to see if it now worked (not a computer expert and thought it would work) I received the 3FO error again and ran a check disk from the diagnostics options and everything checked out.  Shortly thereafter I understood I needed to install the operating system.  I created the USB to make this happen and when I try to do that I get a little into the process and get another error.  I am wondering if I ruined the new drive by doing the check disk prior to installing the operating system.
