Hi all,
I encountered a system error at the start up, the laptop cannot run the OS, neither formatting the HD.
I tried the HP PC Hardware Diagnosis but it failes when i run a check on the HD. The result is "Hard Disk SMART Check: Failed" with the following ID Error:
MBWKWW-7B794G-MFPV7G-60CK03
What does this code mean? Is the HD compromised in some way or is there a solution to this kind of problem?
Thank you in advance for any kind of help that you can provide.
Regards,
Federico Ienco

Hello -Jenko-,
Failure ID MBWKWW-7B794G-MFPV7G-60CK03 translates to Failure Code 301 or Hard Disk 1 SMART Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure.
This is a hardware issue and it is highly recommended that you backup any important data. If you are unable to do so, you can attempt to retrieve it later through a USB to SATA adapter.
If you are under warranty, contact HP:
Contact HP Worldwide here.
Phone HP Worldwide here.
Check warranty status here.
Find an HP Authorized Service Center near you here.
Otherwise, the hard drive must be replaced. Any reputable brand will work but an SSD is ultimately recommended. Steps to the replacement of the hard drive are located on pages 94-95 of your computer's Maintenance and Service Guide.
Hope this helps,
Eddy
