My laptop won’t startup. First i get a message Preparing Automatic Repair, then Diagnosing your PC, and last Repairing disk errors,. This may take over an hour to complete. I started in safe mode and ran a system diagnostics component test on Hard drive. Ran a quick test and the Hard drive short DST check failed. Failure ID: 9GDA1D-9HM9NJ-XD7XG1-60TP03, Product ID: 4RV10UA#ABA, Hard Drive 1- Primary HDD Bay*. It seems like a hard drive problem, could this be a software issue? I have only had laptop for about 4 months, I bought brand new. How can I fix?

Hi:
The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means the hard drive has failed, needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.
Since the notebook is presumably still under warranty, contact HP support and submit a repair request under the warranty.
