Hi @Emily832,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've accidentally removed or corrupted your Windows installation on your HP Stream 14-cb112wm. To resolve this, you'll need to reinstall Windows. Here’s how you can do it:
Using HP Recovery Media
Create HP Recovery Media:
- If you still have access to another working PC, you can create recovery media from HP's website or use a USB recovery drive if you have one.
Access the Recovery Media:
- Insert the recovery USB or DVD into your HP Stream.
Boot from Recovery Media:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly as it boots up.
- Press F9 to open the Boot Device Options menu.
- Select your USB or DVD from the list to boot from it.
Follow the On-Screen Instructions:
- Choose to reinstall Windows and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Using a Windows Installation Media
If you don’t have HP recovery media, you can use a Windows 10 installation media:
Download Windows 10 Installation Media:
- On a working PC, go to the Microsoft Windows 10 download page and download the Media Creation Tool.
Create Installation Media:
- Run the Media Creation Tool and select “Create installation media for another PC.”
- Choose USB flash drive or ISO file (for burning to a DVD later).
Install Windows:
- Insert the USB or DVD into your HP Stream.
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly as it boots up.
- Press F9 to open the Boot Device Options menu and select your USB or DVD.
Reinstall Windows:
- Follow the prompts to install Windows. You may need to select “Custom installation” and choose the partition where you want to install Windows.
Additional Tips
- Backup Data: If possible, back up any important data before proceeding, as reinstalling Windows will erase all data on the drive.
- Drivers and Updates: After reinstalling Windows, you’ll need to install drivers for your HP Stream. Visit the HP Support website to download the necessary drivers for your model.
