Hi,
I ran a system test on my laptop because it doesn't go to the log-in page. It passed the Hard Drive SMART check, but it failed the Hard Drive Short DST check and I received a 24 digit code. What are my options now? I presume I need to buy a new internal hard drive? How do I go about this and how do I know which one to get?
Thank you
Naomi

Hi, Naomi:
You are correct. The hard drive needs to be replaced, and the operating system reinstalled.
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. The hard drive R & R procedure can be found in chapter 6.

You may want to consider purchasing a better performing, normally more reliable solid state drive (SSD).
If you don't need the full 1 TB of space the original hard drive had, you can get this reasonably priced SSD.
I have this model and it works great.
