Ran test on hp notebook. Came back saying:

HARD DRIVE SHORT DST CHECK: FAILED. What do I do next? Thanks.

Hi:

 

You will need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

 

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 500 GB mechanical hard drive with a better performing, normally more reliable solid state drive.

 

This one offers the best performance for the price, in my opinion...

After you replace the drive, using another Windows PC and a 32 GB USB flash drive, you can create a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool.
