I was given an HP elitebook 840 G3 BY A very disgruntled fellow ex- employee who had the computer bought for him by the institution we worked for. Of course he failed to supply me with the administration password and any attempts at getting another guest user password is impossible and approaching the techs or HR with this will only result in the relinquishing of the laptop and (fu#$ them if im giving it back since the corporation involved is a sector of government and most of us currently despise our governments) I/we have been taking it up the ass for far too long
g for me to do that. Basically I need to bypass any passwords or any thing else that will stop me from accessing this wonderful laptop and do a complete factory reset as well. If anyone out there can help me I will be in their debt. YouTube is FULL of videos claiming to do this but no option seems to be working

There is no such thing as a bypass password -- because if there was, there would be no point in having passwords in the first place! Since you did not purchase this, you have no proof of ownership and you need that to get HP Tech Support to assist you -- so basically, you are out of luck unless you get the company to remove the password.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP

If there was no way to bypass an administration password or do a hard reset, our landfills would be over flowing with laptops and a lot of people I know would not have computers. I'm sorry but I know you are not exactly correct in that assumption. What do you think a hacker does? Anyone else have an idea?
