HP Chromebook OS, recently bought and seller will no longer contact me and the factory reset isn't working. I have tried to press and hold 'esc', 'refresh', and power button at the same time, I have also tried removing the battery. My Chromebook isn't allowing me any access into the main settings either.

Hi @JA1223,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble performing a factory reset on your HP Chromebook using the standard method (holding 'esc', 'refresh', and the power button), there are a few additional steps you can try.
Alternative Methods for Resetting Your Chromebook
Reset Using Recovery Mode:
- Step 1: Turn off your Chromebook.
- Step 2: Press and hold the Esc and Refresh keys, then press the Power button.
- Step 3: Release the Power button when the Chromebook starts up, but continue holding the Esc and Refresh keys until you see the recovery screen.
- Step 4: When the recovery screen appears, insert a recovery USB drive or SD card if prompted. (You may need to create a recovery drive if you haven't already. Follow the instructions here.)
Powerwash via Login Screen:
- If you can get to the login screen (but not fully logged in):
- Step 1: At the login screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R.
- Step 2: A dialog will appear asking if you want to reset your Chromebook. Select Restart.
- Step 3: When your Chromebook restarts, select Powerwash and then Continue.
Using a USB Recovery Drive:
- Step 1: Create a recovery drive using the Chromebook Recovery Utility.
- Step 2: Follow the on-screen instructions to create a recovery drive using another computer.
- Step 3: Once the recovery drive is ready, insert it into your Chromebook and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the Chrome OS.
Developer Mode:
- Warning: This will erase all local data on your Chromebook, but it can be effective if the other methods fail.
- Step 1: Turn off your Chromebook.
- Step 2: Press and hold Esc + Refresh keys, then press the Power button.
- Step 3: When you see the recovery screen, press Ctrl + D to enter Developer Mode.
- Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. This will take some time, and the Chromebook will restart multiple times.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
