Hi there,
I did a clean sweep installation of Windows 7 64bit on this laptop and almost all of the drivers have been accounted for except the Radeon 7400M Series driver.
Hardware IDs are below:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760&SUBSYS_1794103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760&SUBSYS_1794103C
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760&CC_0300
Because it's considered a legacy driver to AMD, they recommended to download Catalyst to use the driver, but unfortunately after I downloaded it and installed it, the computer still doesn't go beyond 1024x768 and can't use the Aero theme. The graphics card is still listed in the device manager with the warning triangle next to it.
Bear in mind that the graphics card was still working before I clean swept the computer. The original Windows 7 is on an older HDD while the new one is using an SSD.

IF this were mine, I would do the following:
1. Return the original drive to the PC
2. Save off all the drivers to a folder and copy that folder to a USB stick
3. Swap the drives
4. Insert the USB stick and restore the HP drivers
That should get you the original, working, drivers back.

Hi, @NrdyMrsimms
Since your notebook has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics adapters, you can only use the custom HP AMD/Intel switchable graphics driver.
You can never update this driver or use the generic drivers from AMD.
Like you, I could not find this driver on any of the dm4-3000 support pages, but I did find one that may work on the dm4-3100 support page.
I downloaded the file, and used the free 7-zip app to extract the driver file from the exe file and I do see hardware support for the Intel/AMD graphics setup your notebook has, so hopefully it will work.

So I tried @Paul_Tikkanen's method first and so far all the driver did was changed the name of the adapter in Device Manager to "AMD Radeon HD 7470M" but it still has the warning triangle next to it with code 43. The maximum resolution is still 1024x768 and Aero still cannot be accessed.
So my next step was replace the old HDD per @WaWood 's instructions. Graphics on the old windows 7 are still working, thankfully - 1600x900 and Aero all still accounted for - so the hardware at least still works.
I'm not sure if this is relevant, but both the intel and amd display adapters have the same driver version. Might work off the same driver?

Which specific files am I looking for in the old Windows? Do I just copy the entire C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder and replace it on the new Windows? I made a backup of the entire old HDD to an external USB drive before removing the internal HDD from the notebook. Would copying the files from the backup work?
Edit: I put back the new SSD and interestingly the Intel driver on the new system is called "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter." So there might be another issue regarding that adapter, too. No warning triangle next to it though.

Hi:
The graphics driver I gave you installs both the Intel and AMD graphics adapters.
That is the only driver you should install.
Never install the standalone Intel graphics driver or allow Windows update to install an updated Intel graphics driver.
I would run the driver I posted last night again on the SSD so that it installs the Intel graphics.
Another thing you can try if for some reason you can't get the driver I posted to work (which it should have), would be to purchase a SATA to USB cable...something like this...
Reinstall the original drive where everything works. Plug one end of the cable to your SSD and the other end into your PC's USB port and if the drives are fairly close in storage capacity (or at least you don't have more used space on the old drive than the SSD you bought), you can try cloning the old hard drive's configuration to the SSD using free cloning software such as Macrium Reflect. You want the file on the left side of the page under the Backup at Home section.

I know you swear by the driver that you posted last night, so I made the last-ditch effort to format the SSD again, reinstall windows 7 again, and then made sure that the driver you gave me was the first driver to install before any other drivers are to be installed in an attempt to avoid any conflicts with any other drivers I may have installed.
Surprisingly and unfortunately, the graphics card still refuses to work.
Coincidentally, I do have a SATA to USB adapter lying around so I'll get around to using it to hopefully clone the drivers from the HDD to SSD. I'm open to other suggestions in the meantime.
