Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys.  My HP ProBook 450 G1 notebook currently has a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200M CPU @ 2.50GHz  processor with a 1942 KBC Version 89.12 motherboard.  My problem is that the current processor doesn't support virtualization.  I'm taking a class in blockchain technology and this is essential.

So, first I need to find out if I can upgrade my processor.   If so then does anybody know if there is a processor that is good for virtualization that is compatable with my motherboard(1942 KBC Version 89.12)?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

VT-X Virtualization technology is indeed supported for your processor model. Here is the info >> https://ark.intel.com/products/76348/Intel-Core-i5-4200M-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz

It may be disabled by default and may need to be activated from BIOS /F10.

Please, shutdown the computer using the power button (pressed and hold for a few seconds until PC powers off).

Power the computer back on.

As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button repeatedly (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu

- Choose F10 to open BIOS

Navigate through the options and find Virtualization technology and make sure you activate it/enable it.

- Make sure you save the changes before exiting BIOS

Hope this helps.
