Hi @Odetey,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 550 notebook PC is not allowing you to activate Windows 11, here are some steps you can take.
- Check System Requirements: Ensure that your HP 550 notebook meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. This includes compatible hardware like processor, RAM, storage, and TPM (Trusted Platform Module) version.
- Windows Update: Make sure your current Windows version is up to date. Sometimes, updating to the latest version of Windows 10 can resolve issues with the Windows 11 update.
- Compatibility Check: Run the PC Health Check app provided by Microsoft to verify if your device meets the requirements for Windows 11. This tool will identify any compatibility issues that need to be addressed.
- BIOS Update: Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your HP 550 notebook PC. BIOS updates often include improvements that can facilitate the installation of newer Windows versions.
- Activation Troubleshooter: If you are having trouble activating Windows 11 after installation, use the Activation Troubleshooter. You can access it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and selecting Troubleshoot.
- Clean Install: If the update fails repeatedly, you might consider performing a clean installation of Windows 11 using a bootable USB drive created with the Windows Media Creation Tool. Make sure to back up your important files before proceeding.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the activation issue with Windows 11 on your HP 550 notebook PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
