windows.PNGThis is the message I keep getting My computer won't update. since I got the computer I haven't been able to download apps which has now lead to I can't update my browser which means I can't do basic things that I need to do! Please Help!!

I really just want to start fresh so that I can do everything I need too and so my computer works ever since I bought it brand new it hasn't worked properly.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

 

  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
  • What is the operating system?
  • Are you getting any error message while updating the windows update?  Adapt from the above error message,

While you respond to that, let's try these steps: 

Perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. if that fails

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

I tried to do an update and it says 

"Your device is at risk because it’s out of date and missing important security and quality updates. Let’s get you back on track so Windows can run more securely. Select this button to get going:"

Then I click the button and it says the same thing. 

So I went to HP Support Assistant and tried downloading only the required upddaes that didn't work tried downloading them one at a time that wouldn't work. 

It will not let me update my computer.
