HP Envy 15 k001tx Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Need some help here. I performed a clean installation of Windows 8.1 on my PC, which was a mistake cause it removed all the OEM drivers that came with the PC. I managed to download and install the majority of the drivers off the HP Website but I am unable to install the main software such as HP Recovery Manager. It is the software that is part of my computers driver list (sp71999) but I cannot install it because it says 'Softpaq does not apply to this system, the files for HP Recovery manager cannot be found'. I know this to be false because before the clean installation, HP Recovery Manager was installed on my PC just fine.
I still have the recovery partition on my PC but because I can't install HP Recovery Manager, my PC cannot utilize it.
Any chance I can get some help with getting this sorted? The unit is out of warranty so I'm likely unable to order recovery media or anything..

Hi:

I don't know that you can do what you want to do because when you clean install W8.1, the recovery manager software does not recognize the installation as an original HP factory image.

I don't know where you got sp71999 from.  I see sp67148 as the recovery manager installer listed on your notebook's W8.1 support page.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp67001-67500/sp67148.exe

If that doesn't work, I suggest that you use a free disk imaging tool such as Macrium Reflect to create a system image on a portable hard drive.  The software will also have you create bootable rescue media that you can use to access the image you stored on the portable hard drive.

What's nice about the software is you can create new images anytime you want as you add new files and programs.

I don't see that HP sells recovery media for your notebook since it is not listed as an orderable item on the W8.1 driver page for your model.

If that recovery manager software doesn't work either, you may as well delete the recovery partition and use the wasted space it is occupying.
