HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC

Hello!

Could someone please help me identify the exact model of my laptop and determine the latest BIOS version compatible with it?

Here are the available specifications:

  • Model reported by BIOS: HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC

  • Product Number: F7S71EA#ACB

  • System Board ID: 1978

  • Current BIOS version: F.15

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4200M

  • Operating system: Linux (currently installed; considering a temporary Windows installation for BIOS  updating)

I would be very grateful if someone could confirm the exact model of this laptop and advise me on the latest BIOS version officially compatible with my system.

Thank you!

@Stan_Petkin,

Your notebook's model number is Pavilion 17-e156sr.

The latest BIOS file for your model (Intel) is F.28, which can be downloaded from the link below.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79501-80000/sp79531.exe

Readme file for F.28:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79501-80000/sp79531.html

If you install W10, you can run the downloaded F.28 file as administrator and use 'Update' (1st option) to update the BIOS from within W10.
