Hi @Lprince1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "Boot Device Not Found (3F0)" typically indicates that your laptop is having trouble locating the hard drive where the operating system is installed. This can be due to a variety of reasons including hardware failure, loose connections, or corruption of the operating system. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially fix this issue:

1. Check Hard Drive Connections

  1. Turn Off the Laptop: Power off your laptop and unplug it from any power source.
  2. Remove the Battery (if applicable): If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
  3. Access the Hard Drive:
    • Open the back panel of your laptop (consult your laptop’s manual for instructions).
    • Locate the hard drive and ensure that it is securely connected. If it’s loose, carefully reconnect it.

2. Run Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Access Diagnostics:
    • Power on the laptop and press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
    • Press F2 to enter the Hardware Diagnostics tool.
  2. Run a Test:
    • Select Hard Drive Test or a similar option.
    • Run a quick test or a full diagnostic test to check for hardware issues.

3. Check BIOS Settings

  1. Enter BIOS:
    • Power on the laptop and press Esc or F10 (depending on your laptop model) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  2. Check Boot Order:
    • Ensure that the hard drive is listed as the primary boot device.
    • If it’s not listed, there may be a connection issue or the hard drive might be faulty.

4. Perform a Hard Drive Reset

  1. Power Down the Laptop: Turn off the laptop and unplug it.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset:
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
    • Plug the laptop back in and power it on.

5. Use Windows Installation Media

  1. Create Installation Media:
  2. Boot from Installation Media:
    • Insert the USB drive or DVD into your laptop.
    • Power on the laptop and press the appropriate key to access the boot menu (usually F9, F10, or Esc).
    • Select the USB drive or DVD to boot from.
  3. Repair Windows:
    • Choose Repair your computer on the Windows Setup screen.
    • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair to attempt to fix any startup issues.
    • Alternatively, use Command Prompt to run commands such as bootrec /fixmbr, bootrec /fixboot, or bootrec /scanos to repair boot records.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
