Hi @Jmoney529874,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop is having trouble waking from Sleep mode, and you’re having to perform a hard shutdown each time, which I completely understand is frustrating and not ideal. This type of issue is often linked to Modern Standby, power settings, or driver conflicts in Windows 11.

Also, I wasn’t able to find any specific details for the model you shared, so I’m providing general troubleshooting steps that should help:

1. Disable Fast Startup
Fast Startup can sometimes interfere with sleep/wake behavior.

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
  • Click Save changes.

2. Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
Outdated firmware can cause sleep issues.

  • Visit your Official HP® Support.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • Reboot after installation.

3. Change Power Button Behavior

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Additional power settings.
  • Click Choose what the power button does.
  • When I press the power button to wake up the computer (if available).

4. Disable Modern Standby (Optional)
If your laptop supports Modern Standby (S0), it may be contributing to the issue. This can be disabled via the registry, but it’s an advanced step. Let me know if you’d like guidance on that.

5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter diagnostics.
  • Run the Power and System Tests to rule out hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
