Hi All,
I am trying to get Windows 7 re-install (I know it is out of support) in my laptop.. For that I need 25 character product key to get Windows 7 Disc Images from Microsoft website. Unfortunately colorful Windows sticker is all worn out and I could not read any thing out of it. Luckily I still have HP sticker intact and read all model/serial number/product number.
So is there a way to get Windows key using HP laptop info? I did try to use https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops to get at least recovery disk. The problem is it could not find the the laptop even when I enter right s/n and p/n.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi:
Unfortunately, HP will not issue new W7 product keys when they are worn off, and they have no record of the orginal product key issued to your specific PC.
Not only that, but even if you could read the product key on the PC's case, Microsoft would not allow you to download the ISO file because the product key is HP-OEM, and the ISO files they have will only be permitted to download with a retail product key.
What I suggest you do is to see if this vendor still has recovery media for your notebook. HP quit selling recovery media for that model series years ago.
They have a pretty big inventory because they buy up the HP recovery media when HP decides to quit selling recovery media for a particular model series.
