Mistakenly I have formatted my OEM recovery partition drive. Now I am trying to save a new system image in that drive but size of the drive Healthy (OEM Partition) is 23.55GB whereas new system image size is more then 40GB. I tried to increase the size of OEM partition by going to Disk Management and when I right click on the partition I see only 'Help' option, not Extend or Shrink options and the like.

I need to increase the size to save system image. May I know how can I increase my OEM partition size?Screenshot (399).pngScreenshot (400).png

That is the Recovery partition.  You do NOT want to save anything in that.  In fact, you do not even want to Touch it! That is not a partition that you should be using in any way.

As I mentioned, I formatted it mistakenly. Now it does not have recovery files. Drive is empty (23.55 GB is size and it is totally free), it does not have anything. Therefore, I thought I should store system image in that empty space to utilize the space.

For that purpose, I need to increase its size because fresh system image size is more than 40GB.

OK, understand now what you are doing.

You're better option is to shrink the OS partition because it is usually MUCH larger than any other.

However, I would like to suggest you consider an ALTERATIVE tool for making images, as it does better compression and will save you disk space.

I personally prefer to use third-party Backup solutions as they tend to be both more flexible and more reliable than any built-in solutions.

Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives.

What I recommend is the following:
1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR) from here: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick
3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CD

My experience is that MR, when using the High Compression option, typically can compress the saved image file to about 50% of the USED space in the OS partition. This means if you have an 80GB OS partition, and 40GB is used, MR only needs about 20GB to store the image file.

I use this all the time and it typically takes less than 15 minutes to do the image backup and about the same time or less to do a restore.

Plus, MR has the option to Add a Recovery Boot Menu entry. This allows you then to boot into WinRE, and you can then use that to do a restore -- when you can't boot into Windows!

NOW, you have the means to restore a full working system  in only a few minutes.

I really appreciate your time and quick responses. I just did as you suggested. I shrank Drive C and created a new drive and saved system image in that space.

However, I am still looking for an answer ofmy question, "Can we increase the size of OEM recovery partition?"

Only 'Yes' or 'No' response is sufficient.

Just in case if answer is Yes then how can we do that?

I don't think you can do that as folks have tried and been denied access by the Disk Management tool.

But if you download and install the partitioning tool MiniTool Partition Wizard, it might let you do that:  https://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html

Good Luck
