Notebook stream
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Did a reset on my notebook and it no longer starts up just goes in a permanent loop.  The HP logo appears, then the screen goes grey, then it goes black, then HP logo appears again.

I've downloaded the Bios update onto a stick but believe I have to install it to the stick in order to install it on the PC thats not working.  I'm worried about installing it onto another pc in case it makes changes to that PC.  I want to be able to just install the bios update onto the stick so it will be recognised and installed on the PC I'm trying to recover.

Thanks so much. You were right. I updated the bios and it made no difference so I downloaded windows 10 and reinstalled which worked.

You can run the executable for the downloaded BIOS file from hp.com to create the USB, it will not update the computer you are on.  Then you boot the Stream notebook with the USB inserted depressing the Windows Logo key and B key together to update the BIOS.  Instructions are here.

If you are getting the HP logo however, that usually means your Windows installation is corrupted and you need to reinstall it, a search will turn up instructions to do that.  Updating the BIOS will not likely fix that.
