I first wanted to extend the space of C: drive by deleting D drive. But C: drive space cannot be extended.

The reason is that you can't skip over a partition to extend another one -- and the "C" drive has a small Recovery partition next to it.

While you could remove the "D" drive and use partitioning tools to move the Recovery drive to the right, that would then allow you to extend "C" into the new unused space.  But it would also probably trash the Recovery partition in the process as that can't be moved.

So basically, you are stuck with what you have.
