Hello, my old laptop has been in a seriously malfunctioned state for just over 4 years now. I don't remember what originally went wrong, but I tried to fix it (if I remember right) by uninstalling the display adapter. (I had done this before to fix a flickering screen issue.) However when I did it this next time, it really screwed the computer up bad. It takes up to a few seconds for the cursor to even respond. Trying to reinstall display adapter does nothing-- it says best software is already installed. My google chrome also no longer works, but I can still use the internet with Firefox. However, it is still very delayed to every command and slow once again in general. I can't even get a downloaded video to properly play on Movies & TV or any other app for watching videos.
Can I fix this computer without trying to buy a new hard drive or otherwise spending money? Anyone have any idea on how to fix my computer? Please help. EDIT: I have made improvement with installing adapters from HP Support Assistant, but it seems like I'm just installing the same thing over and over. Shouldn't it be telling me it's already installed? Where do I go from here?
