HP Pavilion 15-Au023cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Windows won’t boot. This morning it was on the screensaver with the time with a partial charge. So I unplugged it and plugged it back in. The screen went black and I heard the system running so I powered down. Then I powered up. Then immediately windows said what the subject said for 10 minutes. So I tried to boot but it was like that another ten. However, I tried to get to safe mode from escape key but it didn’t work. I noticed that I can never even get there from f8 and it seems I only can from windows. Ms community seems to only say to repair from bootable media or windows but I think I need a registration key. Is there some other special key for my machine to get to safe mode? I really don’t like how it seems ms made it how I can’t turn off updates and hp seemed to turn off booting to safe mode. Please help.

Hi:

You press the Shift + F8 key to get into safe mode in W10.

If you can't fix the problem, you can always make a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

Bear in mind that if you use the recovery media to reinstall Windows, you will lose all data currently stored on the drive.

This should help in the future, thanks. But I waited another time and it got into Windows, but the touchpad didn’t work. For some reason, I keep having to download the same bios update and installing it over and over though the system keeps restarting and installing it before going into windows. Any idea why?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know what you can do about that.

Doesn't sound good though.
