I just got a refurbished HP X2 612 G1 laptop / convertible computer. It does not have any operating system in it right now, but the seller has said it has had Windows Pro and Windows 8 in the past. My question is how do I go about installing Windows 10 or a recent install of Windows without a copy on a DVD or a flash drive? If I have to I will get a flash drive and download Windows 10 to it, let me know if you know of a easier way? Thank you

Hi
Try an F11 reset if you can, press F11 repeatedly at power on.
OR https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
ELSE buy a copy of Windows with a licence key.

If the PC was running Win10 in the past, then installing the SAME version again will automatically reactivate when you get back on the Internet.
IF it was running Win8x, you would have to buy a license for that.

Hi, @Crawdogg_31
The quickspecs for your notebook indicate that it originally came with W8.1 (standard or Pro).
https://fcnit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/HP_PRO_X2_612_G1-Quick_spec.pdf
So what you do is this...download the W8.1 64 bit ISO file from the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO
Use the microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive so that it is bootable, or you can use a free utility such as Rufus for this.
Boot from the installation media and it will install whatever version of W8.1 the product key in the BIOS is good for (standard or Pro).
Once that is done and you have an internet connection, click on the blue Update now button at the link below, and you should be able to get W10 for free. It will be Home or Pro based on the version of W8.1 that gets installed.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
This link explains that you can still get the free upgrade to W10...but you have to have an activated older version of W7, 8, or 8.1 to get it, which is why I suggest that you install the original operating system first.
