Hi,

I have successfully recover my windows 10 oem on my laptop but when I tried to make 2 partitions (C & D) using app partition magic (if I'm not mistaken), it crashed

here's the error message error message 1error message 1

I tried to recover but failed

error message 2error message 2

I have no problem reinstalling Windows, but am unsure about the license, I only have an old photo of the win serial number I took after I bought it not sure if it can be use to recover it, if it can, then how do I do it?

Can you advise me how to go about this the best way?

Thanks in advanced

Robey

Hi Robey,

I gave you a link above on how to perform recovery at boot from Recovery manager,

Now, I usually perform clean install in my PCs. So this is what you need to do. In the Windows (while installing) where it asks where you want to install. You can delete all the partitions. They are all system partitions and a recovery partition, In Windows 10 you do not really need the recovery partition as you can create many different recovery options once installed. So delete all partitions one at a time and install Windows in the unallocated space (once you have deleted all partitions there will remain one with unallocated space). Finish the installation of Windows.

Windows will automatically activate once installed and connected to internet.

When finished installing allow Windows to completely update and find all or most drivers. You can follow this process by going into settings > Security and update > click on Verify for updates. You might need to reboot a couple of times. Once completely updated you  can go into device manager and see if there are any missing drivers (there will be yellow exclamation mark next to the device). You can find these drivers and software such as HP support assistant on HP support page for your product:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-14-ac100-notebook-pc-series/8499318/model/101104...

Performing the above operation you will loose all old data from the drive and it will be real difficult to recover any personal files from the old installation on the PC.

Let me know if you need any further help,

David

Hi,

First, you do not need a product key as it is embedded in the Firmware of PC and once you install Windows 10 it will automatically activate once connected to internet.

For recovery look at this HP document, scroll down to "Recovery when Windows 10 does not start correctly"

https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/c04758961

You can also download the windows media creation tool on different PC, run and create a bootable drive with Windows 10 on it. Then use this drive to install Windows (no product key needed) If you choose this method, after installation, let Windows completely update and find all drivers for your sytem. You can follow this process by going into settings > security and update and click on verify for updates,

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Hope it helps,

David

I honestly confused why there's so much partitions in there, can I delete or format the unwanted partition?

I actually don't know which is important and which is can be delete or format

Ah, and there's a recovery partition (forgot to mention it before), It's already there when I bought it, can I recover from it?

Please help me to find the best solution

Thanks in advance,

Robey
