The hard drive went bad in this laptop and I need to send it in to HP for repairs, but I am supposed to remove any passwords including the bios password. I can login to the bios and see where I can change the password, but what do I choose to remove the password? Please let me know. Thank you!

Hi @Freddy1026,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
Removing a BIOS password from an HP laptop can be tricky, as it’s a security feature designed to protect your system. Here are some common methods to consider:
Using the BIOS Menu:
- Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F10, F2, or ESC) immediately to enter the BIOS setup.
- If prompted for the password, and you don’t know it, this method won’t work.
Resetting via Jumpers (for older models):
- Turn off the laptop and remove the battery and power supply.
- Open the laptop casing to access the motherboard.
- Look for a CMOS battery or a jumper labeled CLR or RESET. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for clearing the password.
