My hard drive has been completely wiped. How do I restore the OS?

I was told that the HP Cloud Recovery Tool is not compatible with my computer. How do I determine compatibility? How do I use this tool if it works?

You have cloud recovery

Go to the below site and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character
If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 32gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB.

If the recovery is windows 10 instead of 11 let me know as you can easily upgrade to 11.

My operable computer is a Mac. Can I download Cloud Recovery on a Mac, copy it to a USB, and boot it on the HP?

I have an external hard drive adapter. Can I download Cloud Recovery directly to a blank hard drive, put it in the HP, then boot it?

HP Recommended

No.

Unfortunately, you need a PC as the download needs to be executed.

You must use a PC that you have admin rights to.  A typical library PC wont allow the download to execute.

If this is a serious problem, borrowing a PC, install parallels and windows 11 pro (not home) to create the recovery USB

Windows 11 does not need to be activated and will will only nag for activation.
