@TomH1959, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're trying to access your HP Envy x360 but are locked out due to a forgotten PIN, here’s how you can resolve it safely and legally. HP and Microsoft do not support bypassing security features like PINs or passwords without proper account recovery steps, as this protects your data and device.
Steps to Reset or Remove the PIN on HP Envy x360
If You Use a Microsoft Account to Sign In:
- Go to the Microsoft Password Reset page:
Recover your account - Follow the prompts to reset your password or PIN.
- Once reset, restart your HP Envy x360 and log in with the new credentials.
If You Use a Local Account (Not Microsoft Account):
- On the login screen, click “I forgot my PIN”.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. You may need to verify your identity using a linked email or phone number.
- If you don’t see that option, you may need to reset the password using a password reset disk (if you created one earlier).
If You Cannot Reset the PIN or Access the Account:
You may need to reset the PC. This will remove all files and apps, so use this only as a last resort:
- On the login screen, hold Shift and click Restart.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Select Remove everything.
- Follow the prompts to complete the reset.
Important Notes:
- HP does not support bypassing security features like PINs or passwords without proper authentication.
- If the device is company-owned or managed, contact your IT administrator.
- If you purchased the device second-hand and are locked out, you’ll need to contact the seller or provide proof of ownership.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
