I prefer to use the free showkey plus utility that I zipped up and attached below to find the Windows product key.

when I enter string into command line comes back error Description  = not found

Unfortunately, I would not be able to help you with any errors using the command line approach.

 

As posted earlier I use the free Showkey Plus software to give me that info in less than a wink of an eye.

 

You can also get the software from the Microsoft Store.
