Hi @AD175,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

An infinite loop during startup can be a frustrating issue, but there are several steps you can try to resolve it.

Restart the Laptop

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve the issue. Hold down the power button until the laptop turns off, then turn it back on.

Boot into Safe Mode

  • Windows 10/11:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Turn it back on and immediately press the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.
    3. Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking.
    4. Once in Safe Mode, try to troubleshoot any recent changes that might have caused the loop (e.g., uninstalling recent software or updates).

Run Startup Repair

  • Windows 10/11:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Turn it back on and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly until the Choose an option screen appears.
    3. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows attempt to fix the startup issues.

System Restore

  • Windows 10/11:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Turn it back on and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly until the Choose an option screen appears.
    3. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the system to a previous state when it was working correctly.

Check for Disk Errors

  • Windows 10/11:
    1. Boot into Safe Mode or from a Windows installation media (USB or DVD).
    2. Open Command Prompt:
      • From Safe Mode: Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
      • From installation media: Go to Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
    3. Type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter.
    4. Allow the disk check to complete.
