Your machine currently has 8GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 DIMM) that means it has 2 x 4GB. You can upgrade to 16GB max. The options are
(a) To 12GB: Replace slot 2 with 8GB,
(b) To 16GB: Replace BOTH slots with 8GB.
