Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear Community Members,

Below are the list of my Local User Accounts. But when I log in , i only get the option the choose Username "HP".

List of folders in C Drive > User

Here are my issues?

a) I only get 2 Useraccounts to Log in - a) HP and b) Administrator. What is this HP account and why it doesnt appears in list of Local User accounts?

b) Though I log in through "HP", when I run CMD > whoami, i get below snapshot. Please help me understand what is "HP" here and what is laptop-3gt9mfna\linku.

Rakeshs1954_2-1631460203894.png

c) Why dont I find a folder for "linku" in C drive / Users? Should I create i manually or should this get created by default?

d) I vaguely remember that I might have renamed "HP" to "linku". How can I undo it or edit either folder "HP" to "linku" or create another folder for "linku".

I will sincerely appreciate and thank any input that will throw light on my naive knowledge in windows User accounts.

While running any executable file , system tries to find the dependencies in folder "linku > App" , which doesnt exists, and hence it fails. Though we have "HP>App"

Regards,

Rakeshs1954

Welcome to the HP Community.

Not sure what you are doing or why...

Yes, "d)" might definitely impact the setup but likely not in a good way.

Using the command line to manage accounts is commendable - but only if you know what you are doing.

Windows doesn't allow much in the way of access to the depths of the Operating System (there is no actual "Root").

That said, what is provided is enough to get you into trouble.

Windows 10 supports creating both a local user account and one that uses your Microsoft login.

Examples - "Create Account Windows 10" - articles from Microsoft:

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

and

Add or remove accounts on your PC

What to do?

Suggestions:

  • Read:  Learn more about how to manage / create / add-remove accounts in Windows 10.
  • Search for more information - read articles that make sense for your skill set level and your environment.
  • If you are having trouble, ask for help at the  Microsoft Community  - this is, after all, a Windows question.
  • If you have having trouble, stay out of the command line options until you understand better what can (and should) be done.
