Hi, yesterday I bought a new HP ENVY 13 x360. 

It came with  Windows 10 preinstalled, and it also has the whole drive encrypted. I would like to dual boot this computer with Manjaro Linux, as it is necessary for mu university. After booting up the computer for the first time it opened Windows installation where I configured everything, installed a few programs, etc. After that, I wanted to boot from a Pendrive and install Manjaro alongside it. After choosing the USB stick in the Boot Menu I got an error saying some stuff about it not being Authenticated. After a quick look at the BiOS, I disabled Secure Boot thinking this was the cause. After doing so I couldn't boot into anything and I was getting info where BitLocker was asking for some password in order to recover my drive. I turned off the computer, went into the BIOS, and re-enabled Secure Boot, afterward I was able to boot into Windows again.

 

I can see that this may be complicated to solve that's why I'm posting my problem here to get a concrete and safe answer. How can I dual boot my new computer?

I would like to split my SSD approximately equally among both systems.

I'm sorry, but HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled.

IF you replace that with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.

Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.

Your best bet for support with issues with Linux is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.

I understand that. But could you at least tell me how to safely turn off encryption with BitLocker so that I don't break anything? I don't want encryption anyway
