Laptop 14-cb0XX

Hi, I have been trying to factory reset and remove all information from my HP Stream 14 laptop for two days. It started when I got a prompt saying I needed to update my Windows to the newest version, but I didn't have enough space. I have deleted all my personal information, all removable apps, all desktop icons, all deletable updates, etc in order to free up the 10gb of space it required, but I have nothing else to delete, but it won't let me reset and wipe the computer. I'm trying to get rid of it and this is beyond frustrating. I have only used it for a few months.

I have clicked to reset and wipe everything three times, it got to around 40% and it goes right back to the start screen after an hour with my old background and password. HELP!!

First of all, if you had come HERE, I could have provided you links to stuff you could have run to free up a LOT of disk space -- and that might have been enough.

Second, Stream models generally do not far well with factory resets, so again, if you had asked BEFORE doing that, there might have been things we could have suggested to prevent you from doing that and trashing your PC in the process.

So, it sounds like it is still booting into Windows and working -- is that the case?

Also, WHY are you trying to remove all the information from the laptop?

Well, I called HP for support and they weren't of any help because they wanted me to pay a monthly fee to get any kind of information to solve my problem. My friend ended up resetting the entire thing so I can get a computer with more RAM and storage. I will be going with a different computer.

That does not sound right -- as I am not aware of HP charging ongoing fees for anything.  There are bogus HP 800 numbers floating around -- it would be useful for us to know which number you called so we can report that to HP.

Resetting your PC does NOT get you any more RAM -- because that is a fixed amount and is not related to what you were running out of -- disk space.
