My laptop appears stuck in a repair loop. Everytime I restart, it is says the following:
-"Preparing Automatic Repair"
-"Diagnosing your PC"
-"Attempting repaits"
I would like to find the Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit) product key just in case I need it. Unfortunately, I did not save this before it crashed. No, obivous software updates come to mind except perhaps internet browsers.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Will

@Paul_Tikkanen is correct in that you do not NEED the product key to reinstall Win10.
But, if you want to retrieve it now, you can do that but it involves considerable work ...
Since you need to be running a Windows OS to run product key retrieval tools, not having the PC working makes this process a lot more difficult -- and uncertain.
What MIGHT work is the following:
1) On a working PC, use this link to download and install a free copy of Macrium Reflect: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
2) Once that is installed, use the option to create a Boot USB stick (Other Tasks --> Create Rescue Media). This creates a bootable USB stick that runs a version of Windows.
3) Use this link to download a utility for finding Windows product keys: http://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/2577-showkey.html
4) Copy that utility onto the USB stick you created
5) Boot the nonworking PC from that USB stick. To do this, try pressing F9 repeatedly while booting to get a boot drive menu, or press the Esc key repeatedly while booting to get an HP utilities menu, and select the boot menu from that
6) Be patient ... as booting from a USB stick is really, really slow
7) Once in the MR recovery environment, down at the bottom left are some icons. Select the one on the right to open a form of File Explorer.
😎 Using the File Explorer, browse the USB stick to find the utility you downloaded and double-click it to run it. That will display any Windows product keys it finds on your PC.
9) If it works, you will see the OEM product key; if it does not, you are out of luck.
