You can find the available previous BIOS downloads by clicking to expand the Revision History section on the latest BIOS update's page at the link below.
HP Laptop 17-cn0173st (4C4B3UA) Software and Driver Details
First, you will see all of the release notes for the previous BIOS updates, and then the downloads to the previous BIOS versions will follow.
If the BOS allows reverting to an older version, it will do so.
If you can't run the BIOS update file in Windows, watch these videos for how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive with the above exe file using another Windows PC:

Thank you for the help! I've got to the step where I download the .exe on an old Dell I have and it makes the indicated folder but won't run the Installation Wizard to extract the bios files.
My known options are trying this at the library or on my mac (this seems complicated) but maybe you have another idea I can try?

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, it appears that you can only run the file in Windows.
I did the same thing as you did.
Ran the file on my Dell Optiplex 7050 MT and no window appeared on the screen to select the option to create a BIOS recovery drive.
There is nothing inside the file that you can work with after the file unpacked to C:\SWSetup\sp153149.
It's just a Winflash file which means that it will only flash the BIOS in Windows.
