Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have tried to re-install Win11 OS on my Omnibook x 14 but suffered lots of trouble trying to do so, i finally did it but would like to know how and what went wrong for future

Previously, purchased HP Omnibook X 14 in July 2025 and purchased Win11 Pro key from MS to upgrade but suffered with Battery drain when in hibernation mode.

So I tried to reinstall OS from scratch.

I used the local recovery OS copy and once installed it was Win11 Home but still suffered battery drain when in hibernation (2% an hour)

So, I downloaded a copy of Win11 Arm64 from MS and used Rufus to put on USB stick. Started laptop and spammed Esc until the menu came up and selected the USB stick to boot from however it could not boot from the USB even though it said it had found it. I then turned Secure Boot off in BIOS but still it would not boot from the USB even though you could select the USB in the F9 boot screen.

I tried another USB stick but still could not boot. I put this USB into another laptop and it boots fine  on the USB

I have spent about 6 hours rebooting and rebooting trying but nothing works.

So, what settings and how can I boot from USB in future, I have tried a Linux live USB but this does not boot at all.

I was using the right hand USB Type A socket for the USB stick, so perhaps it needs to go into one of the USB Type C sockets maybe???

** In the end I went back to the local recovery OS method and this time there is no battery drain.

Hi @SniffTheGlove , Welcome to HP Support Community!

I recommend using the HP Cloud recovery tool to reinstall the OS: https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/ish_4511095-4511141-16

Hope this helps!
